Welcome to Ether Saga Online’s first ever “Pet of the Week” feature!
Each week, we’ll spotlight a new pet with useful details from what type to how to find them. Want to see a certain pet? Let us know in the comments.
This week is the Fiesty Whelp.
The Fiesty Whelp can be obtained early on and is the first strong pet players can use. The Fiesty Whelp is an upgrade from the beginning pets (Dewdrop Bunny, Katsu Fox and Matou Longtail) with its high HP and INT growth.
The Fiesty Whelp is obtained as a quest reward from the Dawn Dragonkin or Dusk Dragonkin NPCs. Due to their massive popularity, Fiesty Whelps no longer can be found as a quest reward, but can be purchased from other players.

Fiesty Whelp is also one of three Scalen pets available in-game, making him quite the asset. Scalen pets are very rare and rank just below the dragon family. From the art above, the dragon influences are very evident in the Fiesty Whelp’s design.
We recently caught up with Silvine from the Eternity~ Rush clan, who happened to have his Fiesty Whelp out and about, and asked him a few questions on what he likes best about the Fiesty Whelp.

Thanks for speaking with us, now what do you like most about your Fiesty Whelp?
The best thing about my whelp is the name xD It's probably a bit childish but I find it amusing when people scream "OMG I'm being killed by Silvine's thong!!"
Hmmm… interesting. Well, your Fiesty Whelp looks pretty healthy, what level is he/she?
Currently level 100, working on getting it up to 110 so I can finish teaching it various pet skills
Nice. What is your Fiesty Whelp stats like?
My whelp has maxed hp, strength and int, 8 skill slots and is ranked 491~
Wow! That is pretty incredible. As per the title above your head, ‘Expert Petcraft’, what advice would you give to your fellow ESO players on petcrafting?
I learnt how to do it through using the forums, there are quite a few comprehensive guides on pet melding and I highly recommend the original guide by the petprofessor (I also used one of my clan members as a guinea pig but shhh~) The hardest part of melding was actually catching the pets for melding, I highly recommend catching everything you need first with a few extra to spare for when things go wrong before melding anything since the catching process is highly annoying xD
That’s really great insight and I’ll have to check out the ESO forums for petprofessor. Besides the Fiesty Whelp, what would be the next pet you would like to see spotlighted on the official Perfect World blog?
Lady Whiteskull! Shes hot and harder to find than Fiesty Whelps xD
Cool. Is there anyone you would like to give a shout out to in Ether Saga land?
I would like to give a shout out to my alliance, the Eternity~ Rush clan (possibly the most disturbing and awesome clan ever :3)
Thanks so much for your time Silvine!
Ether Saga Online players - Show us your Fiesty Whelp pets! Have you leveled them up, maybe even melded them to become bigger and better? Take some screenshots and let us see those stats! We’ll post the best on the Perfect World blog next week!

Hello PWE Community!
Welcome back to "In a Perfect World Update". In these week's episode I will update you on the latest Battle of the Immortals Closed Beta news, discuss TheRealJayVe's alter ego "Sock Puppet Jason", update you on my assortment of desk geekery, and give you news on the rest of our games at PWE.
We'll start off with Battle of the Immortals, which goes into Closed Beta in less than a week, on Wednesday February 10th, 2010. Last Friday Xarfox gave us a preview of the Soul Gear in the game (Champion is my favorite!), and on Wednesday he gave us a preview of some of the Pets and Mounts in Battle of the Immortals. We didn't want Xarfox to think he would get off with just a blog post, so we had him sit down with Garrett Fuller at MMORPG.com and share some details on the PvE, PvP, Soul Gear, and more.
If you haven't signed up for the Battle of the Immortals Closed Beta just yet, make sure you check out TheRealJayVe's blog post which shows you were you can get yourself a Battle of the Immortals Closed Beta Key. Get one now so that you can be one of the first to join us on Wednesday for the Closed Beta launch!
Now that brings us to TheRealJayVe's alter ego, "Sock Puppet Jason". It was something that he brought up as a joke this week in a meeting, but I think it would be so publicly humiliating awesome if we got him to actually do something with a Sock Puppet in a video. I was thinking some sort of brief PWE News video, but I figured I'd open up the floor for suggestions from the community. If you have any ideas for how I can legitimately get Jason to do a sock puppet video, please leave them in the comments.
Before I left you for the weekend, I thought it would be a good time to update you on my assortment of geek stuff on my desk. In my first blog post I had a pretty sad desk (in terms of game industry standards), so the above picture is a nice selection of the random things I've put on my desk. It includes a Soap MacTavish head wearing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Night Vision Goggles (as well as a Scribblenauts Maxwell Hat), a signed copy of The Matrix Online, a copy of Rock Band 2 signed by Jimmy Eat World, a Saboteur Lighter, and an Action Figure of Arnold Schwarzenegger from the classic movie Last Action Hero. It's a collection of things that I can use to proudly showcase my geek status to others...particularly the Arnold action figure. He's awesome!
Lastly, I wanted to encourage you to become a fan of Perfect World Entertainment on Facebook, and follow Perfect World Entertainment on Twitter. They're the best places to find out about the latest at Perfect World Entertainment, and they will be launching points for some great things to come, including the Perfect World Entertainment Podcast (coming soon!).
That just about wraps it up for this week's "In a Perfect World Update". Below I leave you with a list of the latest news from all of our PWE games (including the Double EXP, Spirit, and Drops in PWI , AND the Hyper EXP stones in PWI). Next week we've got even more Battle of the Immortals news, and much more!
Have a great weekend everyone - Happy Gaming!

Greetings Folks,
As promised last week in our Soul Gear Preview article, this week we're offering you guys a preview of mounts and pets.
The mount system in Battle of the Immortals is really quite unique. In a lot of current MMORPGs, players can upgrade their mount in order to increase its speed. In BoI, upgrading your mount not only increases its speed, but changes the way it looks as well as allowing your mount to learn skills!
Check out the Magi riding the mount below to get a better idea of what we mean.

Not only does this mount gain a more aggressive look from upgrading, but it also gains the ability to blink as well as sprint. Let's not forget that its base speed increases each time you upgrade it!

Mounts aren't the only form of companion you'll be able to bring along with you during your journeys in BoI. Combat Pets are a key component of BoI.

As you fight the denizens of the world, every now and then you'll have the opportunity to tame a monster that you kill. This means that almost any monster you encounter in BoI can be a potential pet.

As your pet levels up you'll be able to distribute their attribute points any way you choose, allowing you to customize the evolution of your pet. In addition to that, you'll be able to slot skills into your pet as you see fit. Want to make your pet more PvP oriented? Then slot your pet with a movement debuff and snare your enemies. Want to make orient your pet towards PvE? Then slot your pet with an ability that will block the next four attacks.
The mount and pet systems of BoI are incredibly complex, and allow you to fully customize your gaming experience.
The Battle of the Immortals Closed Beta is only a week away! Make sure you activate your beta key and sign up today at the BoI site.

So, here's the situation:
You've never been to a TW-- you've always wanted to go, but you've never been quite strong enough in your faction to be chosen. On Wednesday, a rival faction declares war on your territory. Your Faction Leader calls for TW signups, and your faction-mates answer the call. However, one of your strongest is unable to attend.
"Guys, I've got to go camping with my kids this weekend," he says.
Your Faction Leader turns to you.
"Can you hit level 80 by this weekend?" he asks. "I'd love to have you on our side for this."
What do you do? What.........do you do..?
You grab some Hyper EXP stones and you start leveling, that's what. And you run some TT's. And you sign up for TW. And you hit 80. And you answer that call. And you turn back the attacking masses from your lands.
These stones will provide a kick to your EXP and Spirit rate that you've never experienced before. Unlock and purchase the latest new skills and the highest ranks of your most powerful current ones. Don't give up. Don't wait 'til next week. Level the playing field now so that you can answer that call.

Greetings Folks,
Here we are yet another week closer to the Battle of the Immortals Closed Beta! (February 10th) A lot of players in the BoI Forums have been inquiring about various sets of armor, specifically Soul Gear. We had some time during our rigorous testing schedule this week to capture some screenshots of the various classes wearing these glorious sets of armor and I'm here to share them with you today. Let's take a look.
.jpg)
This Berzerker set is themed with iron dragons. The dragons on each shoulder occasionally open and breathe fire, while the rest of the set glows with an eerie red.

This Champion set has an electric theme too it. The shoulders and sword actually have turbines on them that turn and rotate. The sword also is capable of opening up, revealing it's electric core. Pretty snazy I must say.

This Heretic set has a holy paladin look and feel to it. The shield opens up, as do the shoulders. What's really cool about this set is that the staff extends itself via an unknown holy energy.

This Magus set has a frosty feel to it. The shoulders are set low, but occasionally rise up with swirls of cold wind. The visor drops down in order to give you a more menacing look.

This Slayer set is one of my personal favorites. The entire set is surrounded by floating chains that rotate and turn around the player's body. The gigantic daggers flip out like huge switchblades, while the gears at the top of the hilt turn.
These are only a few sets of armor and weapons from the arsenal of BoI. There's plenty more where this came from folks.
Early next week, we'll be giving you guys a preview of the mount/pet system in BoI. Until then, make sure you have a BoI key activated on your account, and mark your calendars, February 10th!

Once a month, the Overlords of Perfect World Entertainment will purchase one gigantic slab of cake and corral all the ponies up to celebrate that month's birthdays in one fell swoop.
For the month of January, our Office Manager must've been in a 'chocolate-mocha' state of mind with the above selection - a mammoth cacao laden pillow of multi-layered frosted baked goodness.
You see that red ribbon tied around the cake? That's to hold up individual bars of chocolate. A chocolate "sidewall" of sorts that completely encircles the cake itself!

Happiest of Birthdays to all of PWE's January celebrants - as well as each and every one of you who leveled up +1 year in the past month!

Hello PWE Community!
January is coming to a close, and that means we're even closer to the rapidly approaching Battle of the Immortals Closed Beta. We've been working hard this week to get everything ready for more announcements and details in the coming weeks, and the excitement in the office is palpable. This is a *different* game from what Perfect World Entertainment has released before, and we're excited to see what players think of the game.
This week we've been releasing more information about the game and have been releasing beta keys to various MMO news sites. Xarfox kicked off this week with a Battle of the Immortals Class Preview, complete with screenshots and details on the strengths and weaknesses of each class. The smart PVPers in the audience are studying these details carefully, as you will need that extra edge when our beta launches - This game has lots of PVP folks! If you're just joining us on our Battle of the Immortals journey, make sure you check out all of our Battle of the Immortals articles on our blog.
On Wednesday this week we also released the official Story Trailer for Battle of the Immortals, which gives you some background on how we all became Immortals, and why we're all Battling each other. Apparently we can't all get along - We must fight! After all, darkness doesn't sleep, take the weekend off, or even take a vacation. Darkness must be stopped!
This guy is stopping darkness AND riding a fierce mount. Watch out!
